Make your training’s short – Time counts here, remember that Jack Russell puppy’s attention span last only seconds. Therefore, you need to make sure in the beginning that Russell terrier training isn’t only consistent but also shorter.

Have 5 – 10 minute Russell terrier training sessions with your dog, and then play with him. As your Jack becomes older, you will be able to have longer training sessions of up to 30 minutes, his attention span will improve.

Be consistent with your Russell terrier training techniques – Don’t change the method in which you give commands to your dog, because it will cause confusion and he will not understand.

For instance, don’t change the words you use when you give a command. Moreover, remind everybody in the family to use the same commands that your Jack learned.

Firm Discipline – When you discipline your Jack, you have to show him that your firm but remember to stay gentle. Let him know you won’t tolerate his misbehavior, and continue your Russell terrier training to teach him until he gets it right.

There will be times that you will loose your temper. Never hit your dog when disciplining!
